Qualifications of a Project Manager

Project
Management
In a company, project manager is the one who
stays in touch with the client directly or
through PMO. He discusses and understands the
client's needs. He works together with Project
Architect to accomplish the task in a given time
successfully.
Some certifications endorse the management skills
of Project Manager and confirm his eligibility to
deal with the things at different phases of
project. However, all certified managers are good
project managers in reality. But, they are useful
to distinguish a project manager from those who
are not certified and show that the project
manager has cognizance of essentials to run a
project.
A project manager's experience, awareness of
project management and education can be
understood with three different certifications.
They are explained here based on their
prominence:
1.	Project Management Professional (PMP).
Project Management Institute (PMI) awards the
certificate and audits the documentation, which
include
•	experience in project management
•	results of the projects they managed
•	proof of educational background and
experience
Test: 200 questions to be answered
within 4 hours.
2.	Certified Associate in Project Management
(CAPM).
This is also issued by PMI to those who have
relatively lesser experience in project
management than those who are certified with PMP.
During the submission of application to CAPM
exam, the applicants also should submit the
documents on their education, project detail and
experience they got. .
3.	Project+ Professional.
Like the certifications of A+, Server+, Network+
etc for industry professionals, this certificate
also issued by Comp TIA, Computing Technology
Industry Association (Comp TIA). Fresh
graduates looking for a career in Project
Management, professionals who wish to handle big
projects can take the test which doesn't require
the submission of documents like the above two
certifications.
Project+ test: 80 questions - 499 or more marks -
  90 min duration.
Project Manager's authority is usually dependent
on hierarchy of the company which he/she is
working for. To finish the project within a given
time successfully and profitably a Project
Manager may need more resources and change
methodologies according to the situation. At the
same time, Project Managers with lack of skills
and experience misuse the autonomy.
